Wesley Snipes recently received a $217,363 "cost of prosecution" bill
from the government for his tax trial, according to the Orlando
Sentinel.
Included in the bill is $21,052.19 for the time and travel expenses of
witnesses, many of whom were IRS employees, the re****t says.
A hefty ****tion of the bill — $193,716.98 — is for the cost of
scanning, printing and copying do***ents used in the case, including
260 boxes of do***ents seized from the Florida firm that prepared
Snipes' responses to the IRS, according to the re****t.
Also charged to Snipes is $2,456.40 for daily trial transcripts, which
were necessary so the feds could be "on an equal footing" with the
defense, which ordered them, and $138.18 for making certified color
copies of trial exhibits, the re****t says.
Snipes, 45, the star of "Blade" and "White Men Can't Jump," is
currently out of jail while his case is on appeal. He was sentenced to
three years in prison on three misdemeanor counts of willful failure
to file his income tax returns.
